Interview with a porn legend Mr. Byron Long

I was blessed to speak with a Porn Legend this past Saturday:

Mr. Byron Long legend in the industry of A.E. born 5/10/1969 in Inglewood California has been inducted in the AVN Hall of Fame 2010, and Urban X Award 2008. His years of active performance 1992-to the present, years of directing 1995-2005. Flixxx:
Mr. Long thank you for the interview how's it going?

Byron: It's going fine making moves for 2012 you know one must stay busy Performer Byron Long and talent agent Ron Ellis have started a new production company, Teaze World Entertainment

Flixxx:

I'm was looking at some of the new films coming out in regard to mainstream and urban Porn it appears to me that the industry tries to keep very few good roles for its Urban consumers compared to the mainstream consumers.

Byron:

Flixxx your right I tell people all the time the larger Corporations back there performers with major marketing and promoting opportunities. We in the Urban Film industry have to promote our selves,  its about not putting yourself in one stereotype where it's hard for you to break the mold. The name of the game is business, brand, fans, your consumer base must identify with you. Try and be original and true to yourself the industry can grind you up if you let it. My business is Porn get it (business) so when coming in the industry one must think of longevity and marketing strategy to maintain a unique signature brand. When I first came into the industry they wanted me to market me like Shaun Micheal's, you know "Interracial Lust Black Guy White Chicks" They did not have much of a market for black on black films when I came in during the 90's. I was one of the first performers to break the mold and start filming the black on black genre films. I really like women of color, some brothers get in the game to bang white chicks, or make fast cash; not thinking about stamina in the game. I came in the game and had to learn by trial and error no one is perfect and I have made mistakes, for example when I first started in the industry I did porn to survive just for the money. I then had some people guide me they saw my skill ability to get the job done. I was then set on a path to market and brand myself and I have not looked back.

When I entered the game they did not have Viagra, cialis, or any of the other pharmaceuticals that these new jacks are using now to stay hard. The game was all organic, ginseng, horny weed ect. Now guys just come when they are ready when I came in you had to cum on when the director stated money shot. If you could not do that you did not have a job let alone a career; now they got all they pretty boys, when I came in if you could not lay pipe they did not care how you looked, long dong and strong is my motto. lol

I have worked with everyone in the industry, some good some not so good. Flixxx the industry is divided by race, sexuality, and class those that have and want more, those that are trying to have just making it, and those that are at the bottom and never gain any middle ground and just fade away. I remember when I worked with Brian Pumper, he was new in the game the first advice I gave him was take your money and invest in yourself look at him now. You see the average mainstream attraction is contracted or known by the major production film companies they are given contracts months in advance obtaining constant work. The Urban attraction is more independent doing self promotions, and if they have not built up a strong following they fall short every time. Then theres the Internet with companies giving away free porn clips, we as performers and directors have to keep our own production and hosting companies. It takes money, strong net working and will power. There should be more people in the Urban set joining forces, well a new year is on its way and as always one must keep getting paid, we have to keep creating ourselves to higher ideas of production and media.
